The BEDC is comprised of a Governing Board and exists as a stand-alone 501(c)6 corporation. In addition to the Board, a group of stakeholder members make up the organization functioning as contributors/supporters of the BEDC’s goals and initiatives. This group compliments the Board and offers fresh perspectives and insights; as well as credibility, influence and authority.

The BEDC also uses and solicits input from other community champions, when appropriate. These include: county and state economic development organizations; civic and business organizations; business leaders; neighborhood groups and other entities. These include, but not limited to:

Funding for the BEDC is solicited from both public and private investment to provide financial support for expenses related to activities that would:

• Maintain, increase and diversify tax base
• Increase revenues faster than cost of municipal services increase
• Support business retention
• Promote economic vitality and diversification for commercial and industrial areas
• Maximize property through highest and best use
• Create and retain jobs, increase per capita income
