Polk State College’s Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) provides manufacturers with access to state-of-the-art technology, affordable workforce development, and innovative training solutions for hurdles met in today’s market-driven economy.  Polk State AMI is home to the award-winning Mosaic EIA (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation) and Mechanic/Millwright Apprenticeship Programs, facilitating the success of over 150 graduates since 2007. AMI offers the only training of this kind, at this scale, in the state of Florida. We have courses in Instrumentation Fundamentals, Leveling 1 & 2, Flow 1 & 2, Pressure/ Temperature Calibration, Liquid Analysis, and several other specialty classes, all utilizing classroom theory and hands-on training with the college’s Process Training Unit (PTU). These courses are ideal for individuals interested in the fields of applied, technical, or industrial metrology.

Process Control & Automation
AMI has a unique relationship with Rockwell Automation that enables the college to offer training on all of the newest versions of available automation software, taught by instructors that have years of experience in the industry. The Advanced Manufacturing Institute has recently begun offering all of the ControlLogix courses necessary for individuals to complete and become eligible to sit for the corresponding ControlLogix Certificate assessment test. AMI also offers a 4 day basic PLC course that gives the students an opportunity to earn a nationally recognized certification.
