Things to Do

Lower cost of living
Perfectly positioned between Tampa and Orlando for quick access to big city amenities, vibrant downtowns and thriving cultural communities; 239 sunny days each year; virtually endless outdoor recreational opportunities and world-class beaches and theme parks including Walt Disney World and Legoland within close proximity.

Lots of Parades, Events
Bartowans love their events, and you will too. Where else can you find the Crickette Club Fall Parade and Carnival that has run annually for more than 70 years, and draws 10,000 people. Or, an art festival known for featuring artists from across the country for almost 50 years. The L.B. Brown Heritage Festival is a unique celebration of diversity held each February. The annual SyFy Bartow is simply out of this world and attracts thousands in cosplay down Main Street. Bartow’s many events enrich our city’s artistic vitality and vibrancy, and offers free and affordable cultural programs for our residents and visitors.

Peace and Quality of Life
Those seeking tranquility can picnic in one of the area’s 18 beautiful parks, or take a relaxing walk through a pristine nature preserve. Jogging paths and hiking trails wind though neighborhoods, open pastures or around peaceful lakes. And speaking of lakes, if you like to fish, you’ll have access to many nearby sites that offer some of the nation’s top bass fishing. If salt water fishing is your game, both the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico are a short drive.

World-class Golf
Are you a golfer? If so, the Bartow Municipal Golf Course is open to the public and features a 175-acre, 18-hole course with a driving range and practice putting green. If world-class is your game, Streamsong Resort is a golf and spa resort that includes a 216-room hotel and two award-winning golf courses just southwest of Bartow.

Organized & Unorganized Sports
Organized team sports are available for children as young as four years of age. Soccer, baseball, softball and football are all popular. In fact, Bartow is home to some of the best soccer and softball facilities in the area. For tennis fans, 14 lighted tennis courts are available for night play and those into exercise have access to the city’s fitness center. Pickleball is the newest fun activity and Bartow has you covered. 4 courts are available now, with 12 more in the works.

Variety of Restaurants and Shopping
While you’re out & about, stop in one of Bartow’s many restaurants. No matter what your taste, you won’t go home hungry when you can choose from traditional southern cooking, Asian or Mexican, or perhaps barbeque or a sports bar cuisine. Also, find sandwich shops, cafes, coffee houses, as well as a variety of nearby nationally-known chain restaurants.

If shopping is your bag, check out a quaint downtown shop. Looking for a one-of-a-kind bargain? You might just find it at our monthly downtown Antique Fair or Yard Sale. If you’re in the market for something fresh, check out the weekly downtown Farmers’ Market.
